I finally checked out the threading salon, Wink, facing Blackburn Street in the West Village. I really don’t like people touching my eyebrows in case they mess them up, so it took me a long time to get the nerve up to try Wink for myself. This place is fabulous!
If you don’t know, threading is a great way to remove unwanted hair. A layer of skin isn’t removed like waxing, so there’s much less irritation and it’s more precise.
It took about three minutes to finish up my eyebrows. It’s weird because you really feel each, individual hair being pulled out in rapid succession. The sensation reminded me of strumming the strings of a guitar.
There’s only four salon chairs inside and there were two employees when I went. I didn’t make an appointment, but you might want to try since it’s so small. It was only $12 for my eyebrows, but they’ll remove hair anywhere on your face.
